Fulham v  Leeds United Carabao Cup 3rd Round Tuesday 21st September 2021

This was a midweek cup game in the capital for Leeds as they went to Championship Fulham.

Could Fulham cause a mini-upset or could Leeds find confidence with a win?

It was played at Craven Cottage.

After 2 minutes, Muniz’s header for Fulham from the right side of the box was close, but missed to the right.

Two minutes later, Quina’s right footed shot from centre of the box was blocked.

A couple of minutes later, Muniz had a right footed shot outside the box which was saved in the top centre of the goal.

After 9 minutes, Roberts had a right foot from centre of the box saved in the bottom right corner, then Rodrigo’s right footed shot from centre of the box missed to the right.

After the quarter of a hour, Quina’s right footed shot from outside the box saved in the centre of the goal.

4 minutes later, Phillips had a header from centre of the box missed to the right, then a minute later, Roberts had a right footed shot from centre of the box was blocked.

After 21 minutes, Rodrigo’s left footed shot outside the box went high and wide to the left.

With 10 minutes left before halftime, Rodrigo had a right footed shot from the left side of the box was close, but missed to the left.  A minute later, Onomah’s right footed shot outside the box was saved in the centre of the goal.

Two minutes later, Roberts had a left footed shot from right side of the box was saved in bottom left corner.

Three minutes later, Rodrigo’s left footed shot from outside the box saved in the bottom left corner.

A minute before halftime, Kebano’s right footed shot from outside the box was saved in right corner. The last chance of the 1st half went to Leeds as Onomah had a right footed shot from outside the box was saved in the centre of the goal.

A decent 1st half with both teams having chances but no goals how would the 2nd half go?

A minute into the2nd half, Leeds broke quick at pace with James who set Rodrigo up in the box but his shot was blocked.

A couple of minutes later, Muniz’s header from the centre of the box missed to the right.

With just under 20 minutes remaining, Muniz’s header from centre of the box was high and wide to the right.

With 15 minutes remaining, Onomah had a right footed shot from outside the box was saved in the top centre of the goal.

Two minutes later, Hector had a shot from centre of the box was blocked.

With ten minutes remaining, Rodrigo’s left footed shot outside the box was blocked.

After 86 minutes, Reid had a left footed shot from outside the box was high and wide to the right.

In stoppage time, Hector had a right footed shot outside the box missed to the left.

In the 2nd minute of stoppage time, Cresswell had a header from centre of the box missed to the right from a freekick from Dallas.

The last chance went to Leeds as Firpo’s left footed shot from centre of the box was blocked.

It was another night of missed chances for Leeds and it went to penalties.

Leeds scraped through on penalties 6-5 but hopefully it’ll give them confidence for the league now

They got  Arsenal away in the last 16 draw

Next for Leeds is their 3rd league home game of the season against West Ham at Elland Road on Saturday 25th September with a 3pm kickoff.
